Pelion - The Land of the Centaurs

Mount Pelion was the homeland of Chiron the Centaur, tutor of many ancient Greek heroes, such as Jason, Achilles, Theseus and Heracles.

The thickly forested mountain, from whose top you can see both the Aegean Sea and the Pagasitikos Gulf, is popular for its hiking trails, stone paths, springs, coves and beaches.

This 8-day-guided trekking tour, with a total of 30 – 36 trekking–hours begins in one of the 24 traditional villages of Pelion, the Vizitsa village. Following old stone paths and having almost every day the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear sea water you will cross from West to East via Milies, Tsangarada (where you will see the more than 1200 years old plane tree), Damouchari and from the beach you will climb to the ski center of Chania at 1580m to enjoy the fantastic view and finally using the path that in Greek mythology was used by the Centaurs you will finish in Makrinitsa – the so called Balcony of Pelion.
